This is a good tough platform pedal that I can overhaul myself. There is a YouTube video below.

Bearings are cone and balls, just like Shimano hubs.
Maintenance requires a special Shimano tool , TL-PD33 , to reach inside and hold the cone while you tighten the lock nut.
So far this is my favourite pedal. The bolt holes accept pedal reflectors and toe clips, which are great for touring and commuting. I don’t use the clip-in mechanism on the bottom side though.
