Life By Bike, that’s the tag line for this website.
On a bike the world is an obstacle course. Paths, trails, roads, weather, animals, pedestrians, parks, back streets, gutters, stairs, under passes, bridges, and motor vehicles.
And dealing with obstacles require mindset, skills, attitude, eating, sleeping, exercise, earning money, and maintaining your own equipment.
A favourite quote of mine :
“If you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done”.
How do you do something you’ve never done ?
Find people who are already doing what you want to do, learn from them, practice a few times, then have a go at it yourself . . . . simple, but not always easy.
On the bike I’ve pedalled across a bunch of foreign countries (before covid-19), covered a few thousand km’s here in Australia, and commuted a bit too.
Off the bike I’ve learned skills, traveled, had adventures, had misadventures, met people, made mistakes, improved myself, unimproved myself, and worked hard for a wage to pay for it all.
Whether overseas or local the world is simply a different place when viewed from a saddle. Words that come to mind include adventure, curiosity, travel, exposure, inner peace, self reliance, vulnerability, patience, respect, endurance, . . . .
About this website :
I want this to be a website that people find useful and keep coming back to.
I can write and take photos but I suck at making videos, and I don’t know everything, so I need other people to contribute their great content.
I’m looking for practical articles (with or without images) and short videos.
And of course you will receive full reference and links. Your intellectual property belongs to you.
I invite you to contact me.
